Pack Healthy and Braces-Friendly Lunches: Whether or not your child has braces, lunch choices are key factors in maintaining optimal dental health. Healthy and easy go-to lunches include the following: cooked vegetables, yogurt, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pasta, salads, and soups. If your child has braces, make sure to avoid chewy, crunchy, or hard foods in your lunch choices! Also, cut back on sugary foods and soft drinks – water is always the best option. Outside of lunch, some great ideas for daytime snacks are bite-sized carrots, fruits, and nuts.
Keep Up Your Regular Dental Visits: Children’s teeth are either constantly growing, falling out, or moving, so make sure to continue scheduling regular visits to your Parker pediatric dentist. In our dental examinations, we can properly diagnose, prevent, and treat any dental problems that may arise in a timely manner.
Don’t Forget To Brush: Brushing regularly and flossing are key to maintaining excellent dental health. Change toothbrushes (or toothbrush heads) every few months to make sure that you are brushing with effective bristles.
Come To School Prepared: You may want to consider packing a toothbrush and toothpaste for your child, so that they can have the option of brushing throughout the day. If your child has braces, make sure to send them to school with extra elastics, mouth guards, and other dental supplies to keep in their backpack or locker.
